German-made moonphase watch with precision Swiss movement. Of all the complications in watchmaking, few are more visually striking than the moonphase.
As its name suggests, a moonphase tracks the stages of the moon as it travels around the earth. Its journey is exactly 29 days, 12 hours, 44 minutes and 2.9 seconds. The complication was the first method of telling the passing of months and dates back to the Renaissance period. Not only do they emanate with an illustrative aesthetic, they remind us of just how important our lunar companion is in determining the course of important events like birthdays and due dates to its perennial influence over the rising and lowering of the tides.
When it comes to achieving both mechanical and aesthetic perfection, few watchmakers can compete with the master watchmaker from Germany, Carl von Zeyten. After all, he spent most of his early years traveling to Switzerland and England observing, learning and honing his craft into an artform. With a moonphase aperture popping with yellow on a sapphire blue dial, this Swiss movement watch is brimming with both visual and mechanical majesty. And, all for a price that is truly out of this world.
