The Tale of Peter Rabbit, written and illustrated by Beatrix Potter is one of the best-selling children’s books of all time, selling over 45 million copies around the world. The enchanting tale tells the story of a very mischievous rabbit and the trouble he encounters in Mr. McGregor’s vegetable garden.
Potter created the character of Peter Rabbit in 1893 in a letter she wrote to cheer up Noel Moore, the five year old son of her former governess, who was recovering from a bout of scarlet fever. The real Peter was Potter’s pet rabbit called Peter Piper. Potter adored her pet, taking him everywhere for nine years.
Potter’s endearing rabbit is celebrated here as an exquisite enameled collectible box, complete with a matching 22″ necklace.
